The September Back to School eSEL Calendar
Updated: Sep 11, 2023
September has arrived!! And so is your September Kikori experiential Social Emotional Learning (eSEL) Calendar, with a focus forming norms and creating routines! As you embark on your 2023 Back to School Journey, we invite you to envision your classroom as a warm and inclusive environment where EVERY student feels valued and connected.
This September theme is learning how we fit together: forming norms and creating routines. Opportunities to build a strong sense of community abound in the first weeks of school. This is the time to set the stage for the year by helping your students melt the ice and form group bonds that are the keys to social and academic success. We've packed the September calendar with Ice Melters (we melt the ice, we don't break it!) to help your students do just that. All activities that are Ice Melters are marked with an ice cube in the eSEL Calendar. 🧊

We also encourage you to explore our “Variations” offered within individual Kikori activities.
How to Use Your Monthly eSEL Calendar:
As always, our eSEL Calendar provides you with daily experiential social emotional learning (eSEL) activities that you can facilitate with your students. Here’s what that looks like:
Start your day with a Morning Message or Advisory Announcement
Practice those ever-important social skills with Greeting Activity
Encourage connection with a Sharing or Acknowledging Activity
Facilitate an interactive National Day Activity (i.e. Pretend to be a Time Traveler Day, National Ice Cream Day, etc.)
Flex essential muscles with our Day-of-the-Week Activities for Mindful Monday, Together Tuesday, Wellness Wednesday, Thoughtful Thursday and Fun Friday
Are you looking to help your students build critical social emotional skills? Each of Kikori's activities are aligned to CASEL Social Emotional Learning Standards, 21st Century Skills and Sustainable Development Skills!
